The Hopkins Public Schools are in their third year of a 1:1 iPad rollout in Junior High. Starting with 7th grade, Hopkins has added one grade level each year while focusingon continued staff development to leverage the devices for learning. Hopkins also has an active student Genius Team supporting the 1:1 initiative in each building and an online learning platform called #hopkinsonline, designed to teach digital responsibility, ethics and online skills to students in the 1:1.

Hopkins is a leader in technology integration and digital content and will be hosting this premiere iOS for the second year in a row. Join teachers, technical staff, administrators and students from all over the region.

Mark Hammons

As a recovering music teacher for over 16 years, Mark Hammons currently is an Educational Technology Coordinator at the Fresno County Office of Education and serves as an advisor to educational organizations throughout the world. Mark regularly spends his time coaching educators by conducting hands-on learning opportunities and sharing ideas with attendees at Ed Tech conferences. In additional, Mark also provides multimedia and mobile solutions for educators throughout the United States. Mark holds an M.A. in Educational Technology specializing in mobile learning and instructional design. Mark is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, Authorized Google Education Trainer, New Media Consortium Ambassador and travels the world promoting Educational Technology to teachers and administrators. Prior to his arrival at FCOE, Mark spent three years as a Consultant for Accenture, a global management consulting firm.

Mark lives in Fresno, California with his wife and two children and is still connected to pageantry and the performing arts throughout California. As former percussion director, Mark now consults with various programs and is a sought out adjudicator for numerous events.

Ben Friesen

Ben taught junior high science for 7 years and is now a Digital Content Specialist in the Hopkins Public Schools in Minnesota. He is Google Certified Teacher, an authorized Google Education Trainer and serves on the Google Geo Teachers Advisory Board. He enjoys traveling and sharing his passion for connecting students to the world. Ben is the Director of Professional Development – iOS Summits for the EdTechTeam.

Tracy Purdy

Tracy Purdy is a Digital Learning Specialist for the Elementary Schools at Edina Public Schools in Minnesota. She also has twelve years of experience teaching both fourth and sixth grade in Colorado and Minnesota respectively. Ms. Purdy has implemented her district’s first one-to-one Chromebook classroom and has participated and presented at numerous educational technology conferences. Ms. Purdy has her B.A. and M.A. in elementary education and is also a google certified teacher. In her spare time, she can be found alpine skiing in Colorado, enjoying Minnesota’s numerous lakes and chasing her two young sons around.
